Jenett ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Staci Radford-Vincent Date: Mon, Jun 4, 2012 at 11:16 AM Subject: Rube Goldberg day at WonderLab To: Jenett Tillotson Hi Jenett, This coming September 15th, we will be hosting our first Rube Goldberg event at WL. We are planning an event where individuals and groups construct their own Rube Goldberg device that will link in with others, creating a collaborative Rube Goldberg machine. I'm currently working on recruiting a handful of community groups who would be interested in building their own component of the machine, and the first group that came to mind was BloomingLabs! Can you help me out with recruiting some people that are part of BloomingLabs who would be interested in committing to building something to be part of our event? Below are the guidelines we currently plan to use, but there may be more details added in the next week or so. Current guidelines for building the individual components * Your "link in the chain" should be no more than 3 feet wide and should fit on a table. * Your machine must begin and end by a string pull. Be sure that it takes no more force than the hanging weight of a golf ball to start your link, and that it ends by pulling a string with enough force to lift a golf ball several inches. * Your link must be repeatable (you may need to reset it). * Your machine needs to be safe. And, no spilling liquids, exploding volcanoes, foaming, bubbling, oozing chaos, live animals, etc. Let me know if you can help, and also if you have any other suggestions of groups who I can contact that might be interested.
