If you haven't heard yet, Bloominglabs received $80K worth of embedded
computers from Sunverge Energy. It was the result of being in the right
place at the right time. The computers are Logic Supply AG150s, and they
come with SSD drives and WiFi, but no antennas or power supplies.

Please help us disseminate this information. Thanks! And come by the space
some time and check them out. We'd love to hear what projects you'd use
them for.

*Sunverge Donates Equipment to Bloomington Makerspace Bloominglabs*

Sunverge Energy, Inc., the leading provider of smart energy storage
systems, has donated more than $80,000 in equipment to the
Bloomington-based nonprofitBloominglabs <http://bloominglabs.org/>, the
first makerspace founded in Indiana.

The donated Sunverge embedded computers will be used in Bloominglabs?
community partnership programs, which provide learning and maker activities
to community groups including Bloomington-based children?s museumWonderLab
<http://www.wonderlab.org/>and the Monroe County Public Library (MCPL). At
the library, Bloominglabs hosts a monthly Hack Night where the public is
allowed to drop in and work with computer and electronic equipment provided
by the library while Bloominglabs members provide expertise and guidance.

The Sunverge equipment will be used to create nodes in a peer-to-peer
alternative internet called MeshNet (https://projectmeshnet.org/), a new
security system designed by Bloominglabs members, and a host of other
educational and creative projects.

Greetings,

This Saturday (8-22) is the Bloominglabs Flea Market and Hoosier-to-Hoosier community sale. A number of locations across Bloomington are having flea markets on this same day for the incoming students. The Bloominglabs Flea Market will be open from 8am to 5pm along with an open house. There will be electronics, computer parts, and household items for sale by members and friends of Bloominglabs. 

If you?ve wanted to check us out but couldn?t make it to our weekly public nights then this is a great opportunity! We will have free popcorn, and we will have drinks and burgers for sale as well.

Hello fellow Bloominglabsitonionites,We're in the throes of summer, students are coming back into town, and blue flyers are popping up randomly around town.  That can mean only one thing--Makevention is upon us! Of course, Bloominglabs will have a booth at Makevention, but we need stuff to show off.
Does anyone have anything that they'd like to display at the Bloomingtlabs table? If yes, let me know approximate space requirements so that we can plan accordingly. You don't have to volunteer to work the table or you can stick around for part of the day, but who else knows your project better than you?  The larger the variety, the better.  Do you not have a thing, but are interested in helping out with the area? If yes, let me know and also email Daniel Halsey (dakmh at makevention.org) if you haven't already to reserve your makevention badge.
 Here's a small list of the happenings thus far in the b-labs booth:
I'll have my fluorescent acrylic lamp I've been working on.
LaserDan is planning to man the laser.
Hans and a friend will have a programming demo.
I'll probably have my recumbent bike somewhere on the premises.

Subject: [Bloominglabs-announce] Field trip to the Lilly Library

I have setup a field trip to the Lilly Library to view their mechanical
puzzle collection. Andrew Rhoda, the puzzle curator (yes, that's an actual
job title), will be there to show us the collection. I have arranged to do
this at 10am on September 19th. You can either meet us at the Lilly Library
on the IU campus, or you can meet us at Blabs at 9:45am and we'll car pool
over.

If you would like to go, please drop me a note. Also, Andrew will be at
Makevention with a few puzzles for attendees to check out so you can get a
small preview then.

So, save the date and hope to see you there.
